Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

He rescued four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
